RICHARD M. POLLOCK, DMD
Dr. Richard M. Pollock grew up in the Pittsburgh area and received his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Pittsburgh in 1984. He continued his education at Temple University and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1988 from Temple University and he received his certificate of Endodontics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990. Dr. Pollock has been on staff with Greater Washington Endodontics and Periodontics since 1995.
From 2001 – 2002 Dr. Pollock taught as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. He has volunteered to work with Catholic Charities and has provided his dental expertise to assist those in need living in the in the Dominican Republic. Dr. Pollock is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental Association and the American Association of Endodontists.
When not volunteering, Dr. Pollock enjoys taking part in local community activities, he is a runner, and is a swimmer in the US Masters Program. Dr. Pollock enjoys sailing and is a supporter of the Boys and Girls Club of America and children’s Literacy Programs. Dr. Pollock has been a supporter of Genesis Service Dogs which raises and trains dogs to assist children and adults with special needs.
HASHIM ALHASANNY, DDS
After practicing dentistry for several years Dr. Alhassany returned to school and completed the Endodontics Specialty program at Columbia University in New York City. He is a world traveller and is fluent in Arabic, French and English. Dr. Alhassany has been involved in dentistry since 2004 and was also the lead doctor for Smile for Children from 2006 – 2008. While attending Columbia University he was also a part time faculty instructor. He enjoys working with people of all ages and has a special affinity for working with children and helping them with their dental needs.
Since joining Greater Washington Endodontics Dr. Alhassany has been working in our Reston and Burke offices. Upon moving back to Northern Virginia he and his wife are enjoying their new Reston community Dr. Alhassany is a volunteer for the Reston Town Center Community and plays in a local adult soccer league in Fairfax County.
To date Dr. Alhassany has authored and presented several topics about dental medicine and endodontics for the American Association of Endodontics (AAE) and has been a member of the AAE since 2012.
Dr. Marc Jiorle
Dr. Marc Jiorle grew up in New Jersey and comes from a family of dental specialists. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and completed his dental program at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine in New York. He then completed a challenging general practice residency program at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark New Jersey. Soon after Dr. Jiorle realized he wanted to pursue the dental specialty of Endodontics and completed a competitive specialized Endodontic program at the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to joining us Dr. Jiorle practiced in Upper St. Clair Pennsylvania. He has a wide range of dental experience in pediatric dentistry, periodontal diagnosis and treatment and has worked to treat the developmentally disabled. We are very pleased he has chosen our practice to pursue his career in Endodontics.
Currently Dr. Jiorle lives in Washington D.C. and has been enjoying the sites of the city while visiting the many restaurants the downtown and other areas have to officer. In his free time he enjoys playing golf and tennis and is a frequent vacationer at the Jersey Shore with his family and friends. Now living in D.C. he is learning to become an avid CAPS fan.
Dr. Eun Young Lee
Dr. Lee, originally from South Korea, is a resident of Northern Virginia and has been practicing since 1992. During this time she focused on several different dental specialties such as obtaining certification for dental implants and conducting post graduate work in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. In 2011 she decided to pursue a specialty degree in endodontics at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a highly accomplished specialist and we are very pleased she has joined our practice at Greater Washington Endodontics.
Her passion for dentistry is evident in the sensitive care she provides to her patients. She takes the needed time to talk with all her patients so that they have a thorough understanding of the treatment that may be needed. Dr. Lee has received distinguished recognition in her field and has published several well received articles on wound healing. Her decision to pursue endodontics results from being nominated and selected to attend the Visiting Fellow Program at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine and once there she worked to expand her expertise to include the specialty of endodontics.
As a resident of Northern Virginia she has enjoyed attending high school sports with her son and daughter. She is also an accomplished flutist and has performed with several different chamber orchestras. She enjoys many types of music genres and enjoys the many interesting sites and interests of this area.
Dr. Nikeeta Patankar
After practicing general dentistry for several years Dr. Patankar became interested in the practice and treatment of endodontic care. She decided to receive additional training in endodontics and applied for a one year Advanced Education Program in Endodontics at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. She then applied for a 2 year residency program at Rutgers for endodontics and completed this course with an enhanced skill set for the treatment of endodontic care. She has successfully completed the written exam by the American Board of Endodontics. Her reasons for entering the dentistry profession began at a young age due to her own dental issues. She understands the needed sensitivity to help those in dental pain and is a compassionate dental specialist as it pertains to treatment and her patients.
Dr. Patankar now calls Arlington her home. She enjoys swimming, traveling and seeing the sites of the metro area. She is an avid reader and is discovering the many restaurants in and around Arlington to include D.C. and Maryland.
